A couple of months ago Bryan and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary (link here). Bryan bought me the Suunto Spartan Trainer with Wrist HR and I absolutely love it! Up until this point I had been using my Garmin Forerunner 220 and was very happy with it. The Suunto has some great features that I was missing in my Forerunner, namely a heart rate monitor built right into the body of the watch. No chest straps needed! Also, the Suunto has a ton of fitness settings besides “running” for example…”walking”, “hiking”, “cycling”, “pool swimming” and “weight training” just to name a few. It also tracks indoor activities such as “treadmill” and “indoor cycling”. Even on the normal day to day time setting, the watch constantly tracks your steps! I also really like the look of this watch.
I wear it all day everyday and never feel like I’m wearing a “sport watch”. I mean I probably wouldn’t wear it with an evening gown but I wear those so rarely, it’s a non-issue ;D
When I’m on a run the display screen is quite user friendly. It will show you your current distance, pace and heart rate all on the same screen. If you’d like a more detailed view of your heart rate, you simply push a button and its there! I like that at the end of a workout, the watch will show me a breakdown of my pace as well as heart rate per mile. The GPS is also quite accurate. I wore the Suunto on one arm and my old Garmin on the other and they were within hundredths of a mile of each other by the end of my 5 mile run. Did I mention the Spartan Trainer is also a smart watch so you can get texts on the go (provided your phone is within range)?
Bottom line for me is the Suunto is my go to for a watch that beautifully combines fitness tracking and style!
